Yes, we come to you. Both Los Feliz ZIPs, 90027 and 90039, are inside our regular run, covering the flats around Vermont Avenue and the narrow hill streets climbing toward the Observatory. The 90039 addresses on the Atwater side of the river ride the same trip.

Most orders here come out of the courtyard apartments off Vermont Avenue and Franklin Village: two people, a weeknight, two pounds and a couple of sides. The hill households order later and bigger, usually once something at the Greek Theatre has let out. Lobster tail skewers, $22 for a five-ounce tail, are what gets added when a table cannot agree on one tray.

ZIP codes we deliver to in Los Feliz

From our kitchen in Sun Valley the run is about 11 miles: the 134 east through Burbank and Glendale, then the 5 south along the edge of Griffith Park. Figure roughly 22 minutes of driving when the freeway behaves. The last mile is the slow part. The driver comes off at Los Feliz Boulevard and works south to Vermont Avenue, which stalls every time the Greek Theatre lets out. Above Franklin the streets narrow to one moving lane with cars parked on both sides, so a hill address takes a few minutes longer than a flat one the same distance from the freeway.

Every tray is sealed at the pot and rides out in an insulated carrier, so the drive costs the boil as little heat as it can.

Your boil, your call

Pick a heat level, from No Heat to LA Inferno. Then salt: light, regular or extra. Every item on the menu is finished the way you asked, not the way the pot ran that night.

Los Feliz eats late. The Greek Theatre lets out and Vermont fills up, and everyone who spent the evening on the Observatory road comes home hungry at roughly the same hour. Half the addresses here are 1920s courtyard buildings with a gate and a buzzer, and the other half are up the hill where the street is too narrow for two cars. Put the gate code in the order notes and the driver walks the tray to your door instead of circling the block.

What we boil

Every order ships with gloves, crab crackers, scissors, a table cover and a shrimp deveiner.

Questions people from Los Feliz ask

Is there a crawfish season, or can I order them any week?

They are seasonal, and it moves in shipments rather than by the calendar: some weeks the tank at the kitchen is full, some weeks it is empty for a stretch. Call (747) 488-9441 the morning you want them. When crawfish are out, the Vermont Avenue regulars switch to snow crab legs and keep the same garlic butter.

We are throwing a birthday in a Franklin Village apartment. What should we order?

For eight people in a courtyard one-bedroom, take one large shared tray instead of separate portions. There is one table and it is going to be covered anyway. Heat is set per bag, so nobody has to negotiate. Add corn and chickpeas to stretch it, and order before the Greek Theatre crowd fills Vermont.

One of us cannot handle spice and one has a shellfish allergy. Can you work with that?

Heat is set per bag, not per order, so a No Heat tray and an LA Inferno tray arrive together in one carrier. That matters on the one-lane streets above Los Feliz Village, where nobody wants two separate deliveries. Allergies are harder: one pot cooks everything, so we cannot promise a clean tray. Say so on the phone.
